The problem, the solution and the dream

The self timer stand was dreamt, designed and born over a 10 year period, in Melbourne, Australia. After travelling Europe, USA, the Pacific Islands, parts of Asia, New Zealand and Australia, a common problem kept appearing for Bec, our founder. The perfect photo opportunity was often missed if no one was around, or awkward to get if a stranger was needed to help. While selfies had to cut it, she realized there had to be a better way to get that perfect, memorable picture.

“When we were on holidays, I’d like my husband and I both in the photos – but asking strangers sometimes seemed too uncomfortable, so I was left with images I didn’t really want to print or share. When we had children, I found I was the one missing out – always taking photos with my Husband and the kids – but when the time came to put together some photos post-holiday – I was no-where to be seen.”

Seeing this same issue arise also at cafes and restaurants with great photo spaces set up (and staff being constantly interrupted for help) and at concerts and festivals with experiential photo zones set up – but no way for people to get that perfect photo without the help of someone else – she knew the idea had to come to life.

Working closely with an industrial designer, the many sketches that had accummulated over the last 10 years finally came to life, and the Self Timer Stand was born – ready to benefit both venues and travellers / visitors and guests attending.
